Become A Bricklayer 10/13/2020 9:08 PM CST |
In the building industry, bricklayers work to build walls, homes, partitions, and other residential and commercial structures. Bricklayers may use bricks and blocks made of different materials, such as cement , concrete and stone. Physically, the role can be challenging.
Generally, bricklayers work with other building professionals as part of a team and conduct the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Conduct manual bricklaying according to plans and requirements.
- Use mortar in several line, patterns or shapes to connect bricks.
- Cut bricks, blocks or stones and form them.
- Brickwork repair and upkeep.
In Australia, bricklaying is another booming industry. Bricklayers are engaged in industrial, residential and public projects to construct and restore walls where they lay bricks and other building blocks in mortar.
By beginning an apprenticeship in bricklaying, you will be interested in:
- Analyzing plans and requirements to ensure that you have the correct project materials.
- Measuring the required dimensions.
- Construction and deconstruction of elevated scaffolding.
- Laying bricks for the building of walls and other buildings in rows.
- Repairing and preserving blocks of bricks and cement.
- Verification and calculation of the alignment of bricks.
- Designing shapes between joints and spreading mortar.
A bricklayer is a craftsman and tradesman who lays bricks to create brickwork, Apprenticeships and traineeships are an ideal way to get your career started. You get paid on-the job training, while also completing a certification that is nationally recognised. |
